Dilmon Jeffers

Dilmon Jeffers (Dec. 26, 1923 – Jan. 25, 1944) was a soldier from Oneida who was killed in a car accident during World War II.

Biography

Born Dec. 26, 1923, Dilmon Jeffers was the son of Boston Jeffers (1897-1923) and Cassie Davis.

World War II

PFC Jeffers enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. However, he did not serve overseas. He was killed in a car accident in Florida on Jan. 25, 1944. He was buried at Coffey Cemetery in Oneida, which is also where his father was buried. He is listed on the VFW Post 5669 Memorial Wall in Oneida, the Scott County Veterans Memorial in Huntsville, and the East Tennessee Veterans Memorial in Knoxville.
