Lola Byrd Babb, 84, of Oneida, passed away November 30, 2013, after several lingering illnesses.

Born September 16, 1929, she was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Silcox Byrd; father, Lawrence Byrd; infant son, David Wayne Babb; brothers, Lewis, R.V., and Wayne Byrd; sisters, Geraldine Kidd, Flonnie Mills, and Lonas Smith; first husband, Kenneth Goodman; and son-in-law, Carl Sexton.

She was the loving mother of five children, was saved at a young age and was a member of the Second Bethlehem Baptist Church; worked for many years at different places and ran several restaurants in the area including the Crystal CafÈ on Main Street and Scott Restaurant; and owned and helped operate several gas stations. After retiring she made crochet items as a pastimeóincluding crocheted dolls.

She is survived by her daughters: Linda Sue Sexton, and Brenda Lue Gossage and husband, Jim; sons: Phillip Anthony Goodman and wife, Bonnie, and Bruce Babb; grandchildren: Jake Terry, Sean Terry, Phillip Goodman, Jr., and Daniel Babb; great-grandchildren: Brandy, Carson, Trey, Darby, Jacob, Joshua, Miranda, Teanna, Eleana, and Joseph; sisters: Faye McCarol, Hannah Lynn Ladines and husband Joe; brother, Lawrence Byrd, Jr. and wife, Marylyn; second husband, Robert H. Babb, and many other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until time of funeral service on Wednesday, December 4, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Dilman Stanley and Bro. J. C. Reynolds officiating. Music was to have been provided by Charlie King.
