James Alton Smith, 92, of Huntsville, Alabama, formerly of Robbins, passed away June 4, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel Benjamin and Nancy Ross Smith; brothers: Lee Smith and wife, Ora, and Bennie Smith and wife, Mary Ellen; sister, Frances Raines and husband, Lonnie; brother-in-law, Floyd H. Jeffers; daughter-in-law, Sue Smith; and niece, Barbara Ritchie.

He was a graduate of Robbins High School and Tennessee Tech University, was a veteran of the United States Navy, and was a retired engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Doris McEachron Smith of Huntsville, Ala.; son, James (Jim) Alton Smith, Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; daughters: Marquita Karriker and husband, Raymond, of Bella Vista, Ark., and Melinda Smith of Huntsville, Ala.; sister, Minnie Lou Jeffers of Oneida; nephew and nieces: Larry and Barbara Raines of Lakeland, Fla., Derita and Al Manzanares of Fullerton, Calif., Wanda and Buford Barnes of Knoxville, Sandra  and Harold Young of Robbins, and Nancy and Darrel Burke of Oneida; and many other relatives.
