James W. Evans, 89, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away May 28, 2013, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital in Anderson, Ind.

Born in Rockwood, February 20, 1924, he was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Walter Evans; and wife, Maxine Evans.

He served in the United States Army during World War II, and retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 31 years. He was a member of Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge, and VFW Post #266; and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and camping.

He is survived by his son, Larry Evans and wife, Diane, of Yorktown; daughter, Jayne Adams of Anderson;  grandchildren: Mindy McVey, Andley Adams, and Chris Evans; great-grandchildren:  Rylei, Evan, Anna, and Michaela; sisters: Louise Perdue of Anderson, and Ada Newport of Robbins; and many other relatives.

Funeral and Masonic Rite services were conducted May 31, with Pastor Gary Marcum and Rev. Bill Ledbetter officiating. Interment followed at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
