CLINTON -- Kaitlyn Cupples scored 17 points to lead three Lady Mavericks in double scoring here Saturday evening, as Anderson County built a big lead early and rode it to a 69-28, non-district win over Scott's Lady Highlanders.

Victoria Lloyd started the game red-hot for Scott, with three first quarter 3-point shots. Still, Anderson County managed to build a 9-point lead in the first eight minutes, 21-12, and never looked back. Lloyd hit another 3-point shot in the second quarter, then was held scoreless the rest of the way.

Anderson County, meanwhile, built a 41-21 lead by the half, led by Cupples' 10 points.

If there was any doubt remaining, the Lady Mavericks limited Scott to one third quarter field goal and outscored the Lady Highlanders 19-5 to stretch the lead to 60-26 heading into the fourth quarter.

Lloyd and Jessica York each finished with five rebounds for Scott. Merry Carson recorded four steals.

Besides Lloyd's four 3-point shots, Anderson County limited Scott to just four made field goals and held the Lady Highlanders to 19 percent shooting from the field. Scott was six of nine from the free throw line (67 percent).

The game was the final road game of the 2013 season for Scott, which will close out the regular season at home Monday with a visit from Alcoa. The District 4-AA tournament is slated to begin Feb. 14.
