ALCOA -- District 4-AA front-runner Alcoa raced to a 20-point first quarter lead and never looked back en route to a 57-24 win over Scott's Lady Highlanders here Tuesday evening.

Needing just one win to sew up the regular season district crown and the No. 1 seed heading into next week's district tournament, Alcoa wasted little time getting it started against the Lady Highlanders, and led 40-11 at halftime.

Victoria Lloyd scored all six of Scott's first quarter points and led the Lady Highlanders with 15 points and five rebounds while hitting six of her first seven shots from the field.

Jessica Edwards and Jessica York each had four rebounds for the Lady Highlanders.

Alcoa was led in scoring by Katie Stubblefield's 12 points. Tiffanie Moore added 11.

The Tornadoes' stout defense limited Scott to just 26 percent shooting and allowed the Lady Highlanders to get to the free throw line just three times.

A busy week for Scott will continue Thursday, with a trip to Crossville to face Stone Memorial. The Lady Highlanders will travel to Anderson County Saturday before finishing out the regular season with a visit from Alcoa on Monday.
