OAKDALE -- Cole West scored 26 points to lead three Oneida players in double figures, as the Indians breezed by Oakdale, 79-38, here Friday evening.

West, who also had eight rebounds, five assists and three steals, scored 20 in the first half -- nearly single-handedly keeping pace with the Eagles as Oneida jumped to a 38-23 lead.

But the Indians were especially dominant in the second half, going on a 19-4 run out of the locker room in the third quarter and eventually out-scoring Oakdale 41-15 in the third and fourth quarters.

Noah Duncan hit four of nine 3-point shot attempts and finished with 12 points, while Tanner Boshears hit both his 3-point shot attempts and finished with 10 points.

Jonah Davaney scored 13 points and nine rebounds to lead the Eagles.

Oneida shot 43 percent from the field as a team, while limiting Oakdale to 21 percent. The Eagles had more made free throws, 15, than field goals, 10, and shot 83 percent from the free throw line.

The Eagles out-rebounded Oneida, 39-35, but were forced into 31 turnovers by an aggressive Oneida defense.

The Indians played 16 players, with 13 finishing in the scoring column.

The win snapped a 3-game district losing streak for Oneida, which entered the game having lost six of its last seven games. The game was the first of three district games to close out the regular season that could see the Indians finish second in the District 4-A standings despite their recent struggles. Currently, Sunbright holds down the No. 2 spot, having defeated Coalfield in overtime as the Indians were putting the finishing touches on their win over the Eagles.
