HUNTSVILLE — Sydney Nunley scored 14 points to lead four Kingston players in double figures, as the Yellow Jackets escaped Highlander Gymnasium with a 64-30 District 4-AA win Thursday evening.

Kingston jumped to a 36-14 halftime lead and cruised to the win on a night when made baskets were hard to come by.

The Yellow Jackets’ defense limited the Lady Highlanders to 18 percent shooting from the field, while Kingston owned a 32-25 rebounding advantage.

Scott trailed 15-6 after the first quarter despite two 3-point shots by Victoria Lloyd, who led the Lady Highlanders with nine points.

After falling behind by 18 at the half, Scott trailed by 24 heading into the final period.

CAK 72, Scott 35: District 4-AA favorite CAK jumped to a 24-4 first quarter lead and never looked back at Highlander Gymnasium Tuesday, Jan. 22, snapping the Lady Highlanders’ two-game winning streak with a 72-35 win.

Victoria Lloyd led all scorers with 21 points, but no other Lady Highlander scored more than three. Meanwhile, Kelsey Naler led three Warriors in double figures with 20 points. Kaycee Heitzman added 18 and Anna Hammaker 13.

Heitzman scored nine of her 18 in the first period as the Warriors jumped to a 20-point lead. The Lady Highlanders played CAK evenly in the second quarter, and trailed 39-17 at the intermission.
CAK used a big third quarter to build the advantage to 62-29, then hit cruise control in the fourth quarter.
