NASHVILLE — State Sen. Ken Yager, R-Harriman, was sworn in for a second term on Tuesday, Jan. 8, as the 108th General Assembly was gaveled into session.

Yager, who was re-elected to a second four-year term in November without opposition, was administered the oath of office by Supreme Court Justice William C. Koch to begin the legislature’s three-day organizational session, which ended Thursday.

“I am grateful for the continued opportunity to serve in the state senate and sincerely appreciate the voters’ confidence in the recent election,” Yager said. “I thoroughly enjoy my service in General Assembly and am mindful that the people have given me this privilege.”

Yager represents the 12th District, which includes Scott, Campbell, Fentress, Morgan, Rhea, Roane and Pickett counties. The district’s telephone number at its Nashville office is 615-741-1449.

Following his oath of office, Yager was appointed by Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey as chairman of the Senate’s State & Local Government Committee. He was also awarded a position on the Commerce & Labor Committee.
