Ethel Irene Sexton, 85, passed away January 6, 2013, at Fort Sanders Medical Center in Knoxville.

Born in Scott County, July 16, 1927, she was preceded in death by her parents, James Henry and Daisy Reed Byrd; husband, Commodore Sexton; sisters: Minerva Crabtree,  Bertie Gibson, Norene Hutson, and Flara Vann Gibson; and brothers: Lester, James Henry, Jr., Oliver, Dorsey, Bill Byrd, Dexter, Finley, and Churchill.

She was a member of Mill Branch Baptist Church; and she loved to cook.

She is survived by her son, Alvin Sexton and wife, Maxine of Norma; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.

The family was to have received friends from 6 p.m., until time of funeral service at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville with Bro. Larry Sexton and Bro. Carlie Duncan officiating. Music was to have been provided by the Mason Family. Graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, at Rector Byrd Cemetery.
