Effie Allen, 88, of Oneida, passed away January 6, 2013, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
Born in Jellico, March 3, 1924, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jonas and Sally Lamb Hicks; husband, Glen Allen; daughter, Peggy Ann Allen; brothers, Edgar and Clyde Hicks; and sisters: Eva and Ettie Jeffers, and Rachel, Alice, and Ethel Hicks.
She is survived by her children: Shirley Curtis and husband, Jim, of Jefferson City, and Fred Allen and wife, Diane, and Rebecca Griffith and husband, Jimmey, all of Knoxville; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, special friends: Rose Krahn, Daryl Krahn, and Bud Ward.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m., until time of funeral service at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 11, in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne King officiating. Entombment will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, at Carson Memorial Mausoleum.
