Scott County Public Roads
Scott County’s public roads are declared by Scott County Commission and maintained by the Scott County Road Department. There are specific requirements that roads must meet in order to be added to the road list as a public road. These requirements were adopted, in accordance with state law, during the tenure of Road Superintendent Dick Sexton in the early 2000s. Prior to that, substandard roads were routinely added to the road list.
The following list consists of only roads located in unincorporated areas of Scott County. Roads in incorporated areas are owned by the respective towns they fall into. Additionally, U.S. Highway 27, S.R. 63 (Baker Highway), S.R. 52 (Rugby Pike), S.R. 297 (Coopertown Road and Leatherwood Road) and S.R. 456 (Paint Rock Road) are owned and maintained by the State of Tennessee.
