Pleasant Chambers

Pleasant Winfred Chambers (1867-1926) was a Scott County businessman who served as County Judge from 1918 until his death in 1826.

Early Life

Born Jan. 1, 1867, Chambers was the son of Francis Marion Chambers (1845-1925) and Elizabeth Cotton (1839-1903). He was a lifelong resident of the Oneida area. He was a second great-grandson of Revolutionary War veterans William Chambers and Randolph Lawson.

Chambers married Amanda Carson (1863-1947) and they had four children: Cordelia (born 1886), Olive (born 1887), James Bailey (born 1889) and Elizabeth (born 1891).

Judge of Scott County

Chambers was elected Scott County Judge in 1918, defeating W.H. Potter. He was re-elected in 1922 and served until his death on April 23, 1926. Following his death, his son — James B. Chambers — was appointed to fulfill the remainder of his term, which ended Sept. 1, 1926.

Death

Following his death on April 23, 1926, at the age of 59, Chambers was buried at Carson Memorial Gardens in Oneida.
