George Thompson
George Thompson was a Union soldier who died during the Civil War. He’s listed in Paul Roy’s Scott County in the Civil War, but does not appear to have been from Scott County.
According to Roy, who cites information from a regimental roster compiled by David A. Mathews of Cincinnati, Oh., Thompson was 20 when he enlisted in Co. G, 2nd Tennessee Infantry on March 7, 1862. He died of unknown causes at Cumberland Ford, Ky., on an unknown date.
George Thompson is not found in Scott County in either the 1850 or 1860 censuses.
