Bransford Riseden

Bransford Lee Riseden (1852-1901) was a resident of Scott County and an early Scott County Judge.

Early Life

Born Sept. 17, 1852, Bransford Riseden was the son of Isaac Riseden and Mary Jane Shoopman. He lived in the New River area south of Huntsville.

The Riseden surname appears to have been derived from “Roysden.” Riseden’s grandfather was Isaac Roysden Sr.

Riseden married Millie McDonald (1858-1923). They had several children, including: Estella (born 1877), Isaac (born 1878), Charles (born 1882), Alfred (born 1885), Rodney (born 1886), Claborn (born 1889) and Donald (born 1894).

Judge of Scott County

Riseden was elected Scott County Judge in 1886, replacing J.C. Parker. He served two terms before leaving office in 1894. He was replaced by W.H. Potter.

Death

Riseden died on May 28, 1923 at age 64. He was buried at Riseden Cemetery near Rugby.
