2026 Scott County Election

The 2026 Scott County general election will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2026. A primary will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

Every county-wide elected official with the exception of Assessor of Property will be on the ballot during this election. Offices that will be elected include: County Mayor, Sheriff, Road Superintendent, County Trustee, Register of Deeds, Circuit Court Clerk, County Clerk, and County Attorney.

Additionally, all 14 seats on Scott County Commission will be on the ballot, along with Board of Education seats in the 1st, 4th, 5th and 7th Districts, and three seats on the Oneida Special School District Board of Education.

Primary Election

The primary for the Democrat and Republican parties will be Tuesday, May 5, 2026. This will mark the second time a primary election has preceded a Scott County general election, with both major parties requesting the primary.

Qualifying for the 2026 election will begin on Monday, December 22, 2025, and will end on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 12 p.m. The deadline for candidates to withdraw will be Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 12 p.m. The deadline for write-in candidates to declare their candidacy is Monday, March 16, 2026 at 12 p.m. The last day to register to vote in the May primary is Monday, April 6, 2026 at 4 p.m.

Early voting for the primary election will be Wednesday, April 15, 2026 through Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Candidates

The first candidate to publicly announce an intention to seek office was Kris Lewallen, who will run for sheriff. He is a former drug agent at the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

On September 2, 2025, incumbent sheriff Brian Keeton announced that he will seek re-election.
