Mary L. Fields, 70, of Oneida, passed away March 5, 2019, at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.  Born in Red Oak, Iowa, December 2, 1948, she was preceded in death by her parents, Newton and Hazel Halbert Smith; and brothers, Claude and Mike Smith.

Her love and devotion for family was first and foremost. She touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion to the many charities she volunteered with such as Relay for Life, Children’s Center of the Cumberlands, Scott County Shelter Society, and the Boys & Girls Club of the Cumberland Plateau, to name a few.  She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joseph Fields of Oneida; children: Rodney (Lea Ann) Fields, and Joni (Jerry) Punch both of Knoxville, and Joel Fields of Oneida; grandchildren: Jessica Punch, Kelsey Fields, Logan Punch, and Kristin Fields, all of Knoxville; siblings: Jim Smith of Virginia Beach, Va., Dick (Sue) Smith of Des Moines, Iowa, Jo Ann (Joe) Blanda of Winter, Wisc., Marilyn Hardman of Red Oak, Iowa, Rose Dunn of Hannibal, Missouri, and Pat Carlson of Madison, Wisc.; in-laws, Bob (Marlene) Fields of Fla., and Carol Fields of New Hampshire; special grandchildren: Andrew, Jerry, Jr., and Casey Punch, and Paige, Emily, and Mallory Wisner; and many other relatives  and friends.

Memorial service was conducted March 9, at First Presbyterian Church celebrated by Father Joe Reed.
