Frances Cotton, 96, of Helenwood, passed away December 22, 2017, at Oneida Nursing and Rehab Center in Oneida.
Born in Helenwood, September 13, 1921, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Cotton; son, Dennis Fred Cotton; parents, Rev. Joe and Ollie Phillips Bowling; sisters: Annie Bowling, Violet Robbins, and Veda Keeton; brothers: Willie (Sonny), Lacy, and Claude (Sie) Bowling; and in-laws, Ovia Cross, and Donna Cotton.
She was a life-long and devoted member of Helenwood Baptist Church; loved the Lord and to read her bible daily, reading it through several times. Her life was the church and serving the Lord through teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir since she was 14 years old.
She is survived by her children, Betty Cross of Somerset, Ky., and O.B. Cotton of Helenwood; grandchildren: Christopher Cross, Philip Cross, Stephanie McClendon, Brian Cotton, Tanya Phillips, and Chancy Cotton; great-grandchildren: Kristen, Peyton, Jaxson, Tyler, Tanner, Cale, and Jarrett; sisters-in-law: Beulah Barnett, Eunice Cotton, and Anna Bowling; daughter-in-law, Teresa Cotton; many other relatives and friends.
Friends may visit with the Cotton family on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service was conducted December 27, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Jim West and Bro. John Thompson officiating. Music was provided by New Haven choir and Lloyd and Arnold Stephens. Interment followed at Cotton Family Cemetery.
