Elmer David Tipton, 91, formerly of Jamestown and Robbins, passed away November 18, 2017, in the hospital in Colton, California.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Madge Choate Tipton; parents, Christopher Columbus Tipton and Mary Myrtle King; brother, Melvin Christopher Tipton; and sisters, Violet Belle Ramsey, Martha Frankie Stockton Hoosier Tipton.
He was a veteran of WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He served in the Army for 30 years and spent most of his career in the medical field. He retired from the Army in 1974 and immediately went to work at Fentress County Nursing Home, retiring in 1989.
He is survived by his sons, Larry (Judy) Tipton of Hudson, New Hampshire, and Anthony “Tony” (Eva) Tipton of Colton, Calif.; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Tonya, Christina, Stephanie, and John David; brother, Lester William Tipton; sister, Pearlie Crocket; and several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Masonic service was conducted December 1, by Masonic Lodge #670 in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home. Graveside service was conducted December 2, at Fentress Memory Gardens, Jamestown, with full military honors conducted by Fort Campbell Honor Guard.
