HUNTSVILLE — The Town of Huntsville has passed an important first hurdle in its efforts to acquire the old Scott County Jail.
By unanimous vote, County Commission’s Building & Grounds Committee gave its stamp of approval to the proposal on Monday. The matter will now be considered by the full Commission when it meets later this month.
Monday’s vote came with relatively little discussion before 1st District Commissioner Eric Newport matter-of-factly made a motion to, “Give the Town of Huntsville the old jail.” Sixth District Commissioner Robin Newman seconded Newport’s motion.
