Mary Ruth Burchfield Sims, 89, of the Mountain View community, passed away February 28, 2017, at her home.

Born in Scott County, August 11, 1927, she was preceded in death by her parents, Esau and Cora Patton Burchfield; husband, Lenord W. Sims; granddaughter, Deborah Williams; infant sister, Reba Burchfield; and brother, James Burchfield.

She was a child of God and a member of Black Creek United Baptist Church, and was employed by Boss Gloves and Tennier Industries for many years.

She is survived by her children: Eddie Sims, Wanda (Ples) Storey, and Betty (Dennis) Brown, all of the Mt. View community, Larry (Sue) Sims of the Wolf Creek community, and Donna (Sam) Storey of the Black Creek community; grandchildren: Jennifer Zaraskoski, Michael Storey, Melisa Stephens, Mona Queen, Martin Storey, Deidra Cox, Jeremy Brown, Ronya Brown, Nikki Fields, Kristi Carson, Nicole Newport, Matthew Sims, Amy Sims, Rachel Storey, Samantha Beals and Sabrina Terry; great-granchildren: Vivian, Nicholas, Kodi, Gary, Gara, Lexi, Jace, Katy, Andrew, Madelyn, Noah, Jessica, Zack, Paige, Joel, Gerald, Nevaeh, Sasha, Hannah, Haley, Lucas, Aylah, Jaxson, Hadley, Wesley, Dillon, Erica, Savannah, Sydney  and Samuel; brothers and sisters: Janis (Curtis) Potter,  Shirley (Don) Perry, and Patsy Dixon, all of Ind., Glenis York of the Mountain view community, Esau (Ruth) Burchfield of Elgin, and Judy (Jimmy) Foster of Lenoir City; sisters-in-law: Imogene Burchfield and Francis (Tiny) Sims, both of Helenwood, and Beatrice Cox of the Black Creek community; and several  nieces, nephews, and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted March 5, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral home with Bro. Guy Ainsworth and Bro. Gary Griffith officiating. Music was provided by Arzo and Linda Hamby. Interment followed at Black Creek Crossroads Cemetery.
