Chester A. Sexton, 87, of Pioneer, passed away March 3, 2017, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Nannie Bell Lay Sexton; daughter, Donna Kaye Sexton; grandchildren, Brett Davidson and Crystal Lynn Griffith; sisters: Sarah Fay Slaven, Dora Posey, Bell Cross, Betty Bullock, May Jeffers, and Flora Slay; and brothers, James, Monroe, and Roger Sexton.
He was a member of Oneida Church of God and was retired from the Scott County Sheriff’s Department.
He survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Sexton of Pioneer; daughters: Linda Lenick, Sandra (Mitchell) Mays, Brenda Sexton, and Christine (Larry) Jeffers; grandchildren: Billy Joe Griffith, Lucas Ellis, Erica Cooper, Amber Ellis, Jessica Phillips and Matthew Blakely; 12 great-grandchildren, sister, Mary Lou Spry; and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted March 6, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Melvin Stephens and Bro. Sammy Yancey officiating. Music was provided by Sarah Byrd and Janet Yancey. Graveside service was conducted March 7, at Scott County Memorial Gardens.
