Violet Atkins Deweese, 92, of Oneida, passed away February 25, 2017, in Rutledge, Tennessee.

Born in Winfield, she was preceded in death by her by her parents, Pearl Duncan Atkins Martin and Tivous Atkins; husband, Thomas Wilton Deweese; and brother, Sylvester Atkins.

She was a member of First Baptist Church-Oneida and hated to leave her home and community five years ago when she moved to Rutledge to live with her daughter. She avidly followed the events in Scott County and missed her friends deeply.

She is survived by her children: Joe Allen (Mary Ann) Deweese of Ball Camp, Ga., Linda (Tom) Henry of Franklin, Glen Kirkman “Kirk” (Marian) Deweese of Madison Ala., Arnie (Phylis) Deweese of Oneida, and Rhonda (John) Mixon of Rutledge; grandchildren: Tommy Joe Deweese, Brian Deweese, Chelsea Henry, Allison Evans, Jessica Conner, Mary Olander, Amanda Moore, Tivious Deweese, Sherise Elaine Dean, Jonathon Mixon, and Joseph Mixon; great-grandchildren: Taylen, Brianna, Azra, Carmen, Lilly, Violet, Tommy Cool, Pepper, Luke, Julia, Emma, Molly, Sammy, Elin and Ava; and many other relatives.

The family was to have received friends from 5 p.m., until time of funeral service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, at First Baptist Church-Oneida.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 2, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Philip Kazee officiating. Interment will follow at Chitwood Cemetery, Winfield.
