The Tennessee Board for Licensing Health Care Facilities has given preliminary approval to a request from Rennova Health Inc. to reactivate the license on the former Scott County Hospital.
While the request will not see final approval until the state has completed standard surveys of the hospital facility in Oneida, the action taken by the board on Wednesday, Feb. 8, generally paves the way for the hospital to reopen as soon as April 1.
However, an exact opening date has not been announced by the hospital, which must acquire additional licenses before reopening.
Rennova Health acquired the hospital facility from Pioneer Health Services, and announced last week that the hospital will reopen as Big South Fork Medical Center.
The hospital is expected to begin hiring employees by March 1.
