Dr. Neal Wayne Cross, 59, of Knoxville, formerly of Huntsville, passed away January 6, 2017, at home.

Born in Scott County, December 3, 1957, he was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Stella Maxine Byrd Cross; father-in-law, Cal Terry; and uncles: Rev. Eugene, Venis, Joseph Dilmon and Kenneth (Lorene) Byrd, and Bailey, Elery, Alonzo and Millard Cross.

After graduating from dental school at the University of Tennessee Center of the Health Sciences in 1986, he completed a general practice residency, also at UT Hospital. He established a practice and served the West Knoxville area and surrounding communities for more than 30 years, providing optimal personalized care for each of his patients. He was a member of the Second District Dental Society, Tennessee Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. He was a member of New Salem United Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathy Terry Cross of Knoxville; brother,  Dwight (Shirl) Cross of Berea, Ky.; sister, Anna (Troy) Hull of Huntsville; mother-in-law: Connie Terry of Oneida; brother-in-law, Danny (Patricia) Terry of Helenwood; nephews: Jonathan Cross of Berea, Ky., Jerrod Terry and Bradley Terry, both of Helenwood, and Tyler Hull of Cookeville; great-grand-niece and nephews: Kaitlin, Noah, Cody, Aaron and Alden; and many other relatives.

Funeral service was to have been conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne King, Bro. J. D. Burke and Bro. John Blakley officiating. Music was to have been provided by Bro. Chris Sewell, Sister Lynnica Slaven, and Bro. David Walker. Interment was to have followed at West Cemetery in the Station Camp community.
