Billy Joe Carson, 77, of Helenwood, passed away September 14, 2014, at home surrounded by his family.
Born July 26, 1937, he was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Laura Cecil Carson; siblings: Freeda Carson, Freddie Carson, Marion Carson, and Charles Carson; in-laws: Charlie and Juanita Williams, and Crawford Phillips; and special friend, Eli Phillips.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; and proudly served as a Scott County Commissioner from 1977 to 1986; and also served on the Scott County Hospital Board.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Becky Carson of Helenwood; children: Travis (Angie) Hicks, Curtis (Lee) Acres, Randy Joe (Veronica) Carson, and Sandi (Dennis) Chambers; grandchildren: Kc Hicks, Nicki Hicks, Joseph Hicks, Dallas Hicks, Adam Russ, Colby Russ, Dalton Hicks, Andrew Carson, Aaron Carson, Taylor Chambers, Lucas Acres, Ethan Acres, and Katherine Rebecca Acres; great-grandson, Brogan; sisters: Gereda Phillips, Phyllis (Doug) Griffith, Patricia (Bob) Hill, and Wanda Carson; brothers; Kenard (Martha) Carson, Jim (Jeanne) Carson, and Teddy (Carol) Carson; special friends, Charlie Sexton and Palm T. Phillips; and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted September 16, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Cecil and Bro. Lawrence Hill officiating. Music was provided by Brent and Brenda Shoemaker. Graveside service was to have been conducted at 12 Noon, Wednesday, September 17, at Cecil Cemetery.
