Scott County's unemployment rate rose one tenth of a percentage point from June to July, coming in at 14.3 percent, according to new figures released Thursday by the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development.

According to the state's numbers, Scott County's estimated work force dropped from 7,400 to 7,340 in July, while the local economy shed 60 jobs — with 6,290 workers considered employed during the month of July, down from 6,350 in June.

The number of estimated unemployment workers was unchanged at 1,050.
