HELENWOOD — The body of a 44-year-old Cherry Fork Road resident was discovered in a wooded area by his home early Wednesday evening.

The body of Troy A. Phillips, 44, was discovered by his brother, who embarked on a search after Phillips failed to return home.

According to Scott County Sheriff's Department Detective Randy Lewallen, Phillips died in what appeared to be an ATV accident.

An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death and Lewallen said the investigation is ongoing.

"It is not suspicious; we're just working to determine the exact cause of the accident," Lewallen said.

The accident occurred as Phillips attempted to pass under some low-hanging limbs along an ATV trail near his home.

Phillips had been missing from his residence for two days.

The Scott County Ambulance Service and Scott County Rescue Squad responded to the scene with Sheriff's Department deputies around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Phillips is survived by an adult son, who lives in Georgia, along with two grandchildren. A funeral service is set for Saturday at West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida.
