HUNTSVILLE — If their attorneys have their way, two men facing murder charges in Scott County will never stand trial due to their mental status.

Gregory D. Potter and Josiah Jones, each facing first degree murder charges, are currently in the process of attempting to build an insanity defense.

While neither of the suspects made a personal appearance in Scott County Criminal Court Monday, their cases were called for a status update, with assistant district attorney Tom Barclay informing the court that each of the men was in the midst of competency evaluations.
