Cordell Jackson Kirby, 69, of Huntsville, passed away June 15, 2014, at Pioneer Community Hospital of Scott in Oneida.
Born in Scott County, August 20, 1944, he was preceded in death by his parents, Harlo and Elsie Kirby; infant son, William Corey Kirby; sisters: Kathrine Silcox, Joyce Young, Marie Lowe, and Jane Griffith; brothers: Randall L. Kirby and infant brother; and special niece, Darlene Lawson.
He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years.
He is survived by his wife of more than 48 years, Joann Kirby of the Fairview community; daughters: Tammy (Tim) Strunk of Oneida, and Amanda (Chuck) Strunk of Huntsville; grandson: Jordie Strunk of Oneida; great-granddaughter, Olivia; brothers: Leonard (Bessie) Kirby of Cincinnati, Ohio, David (Pat) Kirby of LaFollette, and Wayne (Shirley) Kirby of Robbins; sisters: Freeda Lane of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Brenda (Lyhue) Crowley of Winona; in-laws, Carrie Kirby and Harold Griffith; great-nephew, Craig Lawson; and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted June 18, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Carlie Duncan, Bro. Dudley Harness, and Bro. Bobby Massengale officiating. Music was provided by the Antioch Singers, Chuck Strunk, Chelsea Duncan, and Dudley Harness. Graveside service was conducted June 19, at Antioch Cemetery.
