JoAnn Culver, 78, of Robbins, passed away May 28, 2014, at Huntsville Manor Nursing Home.
Born in the Mt. View community, August 7, 1935, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper, Sr. and Ora Shoemaker Robbins; husband, Edgar ìEddieî Culver; and in-laws: Martha Ann Culver, Leon Spiva, and Kenneth Jeffers.
She was saved at 10 years of age; was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church; was a pianists for numerous years, and a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She had a genuine love for her students and retired after 30 years from the Scott County School System where she taught cosmetology at Scott High School. She was elected to the Scott County Hall of Fame, Boys & Girls Club in 2007.
She is survived by her children: Richard (Kaye) Culver, Steve (Penny) Culver, and Kim (Scott) Burke; grandchildren: Brandi Smith, Blake Culver, Derek Culver, Jennifer Culver, Dara Kidd, Olivia Douglas, Ariel West, Amelia McMahan, and Easton Burke; great-grandchildren: Kamia, Jaslyn, Shyanne, Blakelee, Hudson, Kylee, and Kase; brother, Jasper (Peggy) Robbins, Jr.; in-laws, Jean Jeffers and Opal Spiva; special cousin, Ruth Sexton; special friends: Pauline and Otis Pemberton, and John Harris; and several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted May 30, at Mt. View Baptist Church with Bro. Phillip Kidd officiating. Music was provided by Mt. View Baptist Church Choir. Graveside service was conducted May 31, at Black Creek Crossroads Cemetery.
