HUNTSVILLE — In an announcement here Wednesday, May 21, Tennessee Department of Transportation commissioner John Schroer unveiled plans to improve S.R. 52 between Elgin and Rugby.

However, those improvements have changed drastically from TDOT’s original scope for its S.R. 52 project, and will include only slight changes.
TDOT’s original plan for S.R. 52 was for a $38 million project that would have seen the highway widened to two 12-ft. lanes with 250 ft. of right-of-way to allow for future expansion to four lanes.
