Scott County's unemployment rate dropped to its lowest point in nearly six years in April, according to numbers released Thursday by the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development.
The local jobless rate was reported at 13.5 percent in April, down substantially from March's jobless rate of 14.8 percent.
That followed a trend from across the state, which saw 86 of Tennessee's 95 counties post decreased unemployment rates in April. The rate dropped by more than one full percentage point in 78 of those counties.
