John Arnold Thompson, 81, of Huntsville, formerly of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away May 17, 2014, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.

Born in Revelo, Kentucky, July 31, 1932, he was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Ethel Ball Thompson; and two infant sisters.

He was a member of Highway Baptist Church; was a truck driver for more than 25 years; and was a retired bus driver for the McCreary County Schools.

He is survived by his wife of more than 45 years, Ann Ramsey Thompson of Huntsville; daughters: Lisa (Joey) Griffith of Somerset, Ky., and Lora (Tim) Sexton of Oneida; grandchildren: Rylin, Ryan, Elanndra, and Adrien; great-grandchild, Tylyn; sister, Betty Thompson; special granddaughters, Lexi and Olivia; and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted May 19, in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Doug Stanley officiating. Graveside service was conducted May 20, at Perkins Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.
