Oneida Police Department said farewell to one of its own last week.

“Jinkx,” the department’s only drug dog, died suddenly Tuesday, May 6, after eight years of service to the department and the community.

During his time at OPD, Jinkx’s duties included random searches at Oneida schools, the execution of countless drug search warrants, sniffing out drugs on vehicle stops and helping to teach hundreds of students about the dangers of drugs.
