Oneida senior Cole West completed his clean sweep of District 4-A's major most valuable player awards Wednesday, when the district's baseball coaches named him MVP of the 2014 season.
West, who was previously named the district's co-MVP in football and MVP in basketball, took the top individual honor for the baseball season during the coaches' meeting at Preston's Steakhouse in Oneida.
West's win was just the start of the accolades for Oneida, which is undefeated and tied with Oakdale atop the district standings heading into the final week of the regular season. Shawn West was named the district's coach of the year, while junior Matt Williams was named pitcher of the year.
The district's offensive player of the year was Oliver Springs' Tanner Turpin, while Oakdale's Justin Moore was named defensive player of the year. Wartburg's Jared Miller and Oakdale's Jeremiah Johnson tied for newcomer of the year.
Named to the all-district team from Oneida were Bryant Harper, Cage West, Caleb Lee, Tanner Sexton and Lukas Phillips.
Players making the all-district team from Oakdale were Aaron Powers, Devin Ruppe, Landon Botkin, Austin Lowe and Brady Bingham.
Wartburg's Daniel Justes, Aaron Hamby and Zach Smith were named all-district.
Oliver Springs' Dylan Seiber, Elijah White and Keith Roberts were named to the all-district team.
Also named all-district were Sunbright's Bryan Brooks and Kenny Cooper, and Jellico's Mike Arnstandt.
