HUNTSVILLE — Scott needed just two at-bats to have enough runners aboard to score all the runs needed to defeat Austin-East in the first game of a double-header Thursday evening.

For good measure, though, the Highlanders kept the bats cranking, putting 11 runs on the board in the first three innings — six in the third inning alone — en route to an 11-1 win over the Roadrunners.

Jordan Puckett led off with a double, and Aaron Carson walked, to give Scott a quick leg up in the bottom of the first inning. A Jake Todd single helped both runners score, and the Highlanders led 2-0 after the first.

In the bottom of the second, Dylan Lyons led off with a double, then scored on the next at-bat on Tyler Strunk's RBI single.

Two batters later, Strunk scored on an RBI single by Puckett, who in turn scored on an RBI double by Carson, and Scott led 5-0.

In the bottom of the third, the Highlanders took complete control of the game. Austin Stephens had a lead-off double to get things started, scoring on and RBI single by Josh Butts two batters later. Butts would score on an RBI single by Cameron Trammell, while Lyons — who reached base on an error — scored on an RBI single by Puckett. An RBI single by Carson scored Trammell, while Puckett scored on an RBI single by Billy Hall to complete Scott's scoring.

Austin-East scored a single run in the top of the fourth inning.
