Ssg. Floyd Dean Pergram, 78, of Gulfport, Mississippi, formerly of Winfield, passed away April 9, 2014, at the Armed Forces Retirement Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Winnie Donathon Pergram; wife, Shirley Chitwood Pergram; infant daughter, Rebecca; and brothers: Chester, Espy, and Robert Pergram.

He retired from the United States Army with a Driverís Bugle w/Bar, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/Silver Star and two Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/1960 Device, three Overseas Service Bars, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal (fourth award), six Service Stripes, and Expert Medal.

He is survived by his sister, Ruby Jeffers of Oneida; special nieces: Linda Roe and Annie Phillips, both of Winfield; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives.

Funeral service will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date.
