Oneida remained in second place in District 4-A Monday, winning the first of a two-game series with Jellico by a count of 17-2.

The Lady Indians scored one run in the first inning, then took command with a nine-run second inning and did not look back.

Micah Stephens hit an RBI single to score Kennedi Reed in the first inning.

In the second inning, the runs came quickly and often for Oneida. Amanda May hit a lead-off double and later scored. Presley West and Shyann West got aboard as well. An RBI single by Tesla Huling scored Presley West, while Shyann West would also score. A two-run triple by Stephens scored Huling and Reed, with Stephens scoring on the next at-bat on Ali Neal's RBI single. Jasmine Jones hit a single and later scored on an RBI single by Presley West, while May and West both scored their second runs of the inning before Jellico finally recorded the third out.

The Blue Devils scored two runs in the top of the third, but  Oneida tacked on three more in the bottom half of the inning. Kassidy West hit a double and scored on an RBI by Stephens, who in turn scored on an RBI by Neal. Neal would score as well before the inning ended.

In the fourth inning, Oneida scored four more runs. Shyann West got aboard first and scored on an RBI double by Jenna Bridges. Bridges then scored on an RBI by Kassidy West, who in turn scored on an RBI triple by Reed. Reed would score as well, Oneida's final run of the game.
