HUNTSVILLE — Five of Scott's first six runners to the plate scored, setting the tone for a dominating softball win for the Lady Highlanders Saturday afternoon.
Scott defeated Campbell County 11-1 when the game was called after 4.5 innings.
Mariah Hall, Anna Sexton, Alex Kazee, Whitney Byrge and Tamra Dowden all scored in the first inning. And the Lady Highlanders led 5-0 after the inning despite stranding two runners in scoring position. Scott's base-runners stole eight bases in the inning, two of them by Byrge.
Scott tacked on three more runs in the second inning. An error put Kazee aboard, and she scored on an RBI double by Dowden. Byrge and Dowden were driven home by Ajia Huff's two-run single. Byrge stole two more bases in the second inning.
Kazee scored her third run of the game in the third inning after reaching base on balls.
Leading 9-0, Scott tacked on two more runs in the fourth. Byrge stole her fifth base of the afternoon after a base hit and would later score. Dowden added her third run of the night as well.
Campbell County added its only run in the top of the fifth.
