Maynard Cross, 76, of Oneida, passed away March 17, 2014, at Tennova North Hospital in Knoxville.

Born November 7, 1937, he was preceded in death by his parents, Rosier and Rosalee West Cross; daughter, Tammy Cross; brothers: Darryl and infant, Garland Cross; sister, Nella Pha Yancey; niece and nephew, Sherry Yancey and  Derrick Paul; and in-laws: Ruby Buttram Green, James Yancey, Leroy Sexton, and Franklin Wallace.

He was a member of Outreach Church, loved reading his Bible, and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a very humble man who could touch the throne room of God with his prayers. His heartís desire was to see his Friends and loved ones again in heaven.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nella Faye Cross; daughter, Pam (Dean) Gochenour of Oneida; grandson, Joshua Samuel Gochenour; special son, Chris (Jerica) Russell of Oneida; Brother, Zolla (Helen) Cross of Oneida; sister, Ugunda West of Oneida; uncle, Dexter West of Oneida; sisters- and brother-in-law: Melba Cross of Oneida, Doris (Elbert) Kennedy of Lake City, Patsy (Bill) Evans of Knoxville, Wanda Sexton of Oneida, Patricia Wallace of Caryville, Eugene (Lillian) Paul of Oneida; special friends and in-laws: Harold and Deanna Gochenour of Fla., and Wilburn and Anna Sexton of Huntsville; several nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted March 21, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home in Oneida with Bro. Jonathan Gibson and Bro. Joe West officiating. Music was provided by Allen Carson, Sammy Yancey, and Janet Yancey. Graveside service was conducted March 22, at Peaceful Rose Garden Cemetery.
