WINFIELD — Details of a structure fire near the state line here remained sketchy Tuesday morning, after a pre-dawn blaze destroyed a mobile home on Ross Road.

The 3:30 a.m. blaze gutted the mobile home, which was located north of Winfield, near the Tennessee-Kentucky state line.

The first report from dispatchers indicated that a lightning strike had hit the mobile home with residents inside. There were also reports of additional explosions. It was later learned that an exploding oxygen bottle had ignited the blaze.

By the time firefighters arrived on the scene from Winfield Fire Department, the home was completely engulfed in flames. However, everyone inside the home reportedly made it to safety without injury.

Firefighters from Winfield and Pine Knot Fire Department quickly brought the blaze under control.
