Pastor Robert Loyd King, 81, of Strunk, Kentucky, passed away March 12, 2014, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Born in McCreary County, Kentucky, August 10, 1932, he was preceed in death by his parents, Charles Newton and Delphia Spradlin King; son, Gary L. King;  infant brothers, Wilburn and Forrest King, and sisters, Georgia Ross and Virgina Baird.

He was saved at the age of 17 and became an ordained minister in 1951. He pastored multiple churches before his retirement including Otter Creek Baptist, Whitley City Second Baptist, and Fosters Crossroads churches. He was a member of First Hickory Grove Baptist and pastored the church for 35 years. He was devoted to preaching the gospel and serving Christ and his church. He was also a member of the Honorable order of Kentucky Colonels, the Orie S. Ware Lodge, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He made his living as a carpenter, building numerous houses throughout the community.

He is survived by his wife, Lula Dean Hancock King of Strunk, Ky.; sons: Faron Lee (Cathy) King of Whitley City, Ky., and Braxton N. (Monica) King of Strunk, Ky.; daughters: Jeannie Gail (Chris) West of Revelo, Ky., and Jill Ann Bradley of Strunk, Ky.; grandchildren: Jordyn King, Jacob Polley, Preston King, Michelle Kidd, Landon West, Erica Martin, Brandon King, Brittany King, Joshua Bradley, and Ethan Bradley; great-grandchild, Cody; great-great-grandchild, Timothy; brothers: Logan (Sheila) King  of Somerset, Ky., and Coye (Sudie) King of London, Ky.; sisters: Ruth (Gilbert) Vanover, and Delta Tucker of Stearns, Ky., Betty (Larry) Bown of Whitley City, Ky., Myrtle Burkett and husband, Garvis, of Somerset, Ky., and Wanda (Donald) Gregory of Covington, Ind.; and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted March 15, at Whitley City First Baptist Churchwith Bro. Eddie King and Bro. Braxton King officiating. Interment followed at Otter Creek Cemetery.
