NASHVILLE — A seven-year effort to extend wine sales from package stores to grocery stores culminated Thursday with the signature of Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam.

Haslam signed a bill that had already passed both houses of the General Assembly.

Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, R-Blountville, called the move a "great step forward" for Tennessee.
