Whitley County limited Oneida to four hits and walked away with an 8-2 win at Bear Creek Thursday afternoon.

The visitors jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second inning and never trailed, scoring two runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings to put the game out of reach.

Oneida held Whitley County scoreless in the first inning, but Whitley County earned two of their eight hits in the second inning and scored two runs to take the lead.

For Oneida, earning hits were Matt Williams, Cole West, Jordan Terry and Colby Jeffers. Williams and West touched base twice. West and Jeffers each scored a run.

West got the start on the mound for Oneida, pitching all seven innings and striking out six Whitley County batters.

Clinton earns 14-3 softball win at Oneida: Clinton set the tone at Bear Creek Thursday afternoon with six runs in the top of the first inning, and never looked back en route to a 14-3 win over Oneida.

Tesla Huling scored for Oneida in the first on an RBI by Micah Stephens. In the second, which saw Oneida match Clinton's two runs to keep the deficit at a manageable five runs, Ali Neal and Amanda May both scored, with an RBI by Jenna Bridges.

But Clinton scored three runs each in the third and fourth innings to expand the lead to 11.
