HUNTSVILLE — While Adventure Tourism discussions dominated Monday night’s regular meeting of the Scott County Commission (see story, page 1), several other important measures were acted upon, including the appointment of a three-member Audit Committee, and allocating funds for the upkeep of county-owned baseball and softball fields.

In an effort to provide increased transparency and accountability of public funds, the commission gave its approval of appointing Jerry Slaven, Dave Cross and Melvin Stephens to serve on Scott County’s first-ever Audit Committee.

Those three members of the committee, who will serve staggered terms ranging from one to three years, will oversee county financial management activities, while the commission retains the ultimate responsibility for internal control and financial reporting.
