CHATTANOOGA – Scottie Mayfield has endorsed Chuck Fleischmann’s re-election campaign, and been named honorary chairman of the campaign.

Mayfield, of Mayfield Dairy Farms fame, was the runner-up in the 2012 Republican primary between Fleischmann, himself, and Weston Wamp, who is challenging Fleischmann again in the 2014 primary.

"Since the election almost two years ago, Chuck has been in contact with me on a few issues that he felt I could have knowledgeable input. He listened and was appreciative of my opinion. I have appreciated his work ethic and think he has done a good job in light of the circumstances in Washington. I believe he is the best man to represent the Third District of Tennessee in Congress," Mayfield said.

"I am asked a lot these days about what is next for me, and who I am supporting in this race. Today, I wanted to make clear that Chuck is who I am supporting in this race, and I am glad to accept the position of Honorary Chairman of his campaign," Mayfield added.

"I am so thankful to have Scottie’s support. Since our last campaign ended, he and I have sat down on a regular basis to talk about the issues that are important to East Tennessee. Not surprisingly, we have found a whole lot we agree on, and I have been eager to hear his thoughts and work with him on issues where we can make a difference together. I look forward to continuing this work – and eating a little more ice cream along the way," Fleischmann said.
