HUNTSVILLE — Scott High made quick work of the first game of a softball double-header here Friday, defeating Sunbright 13-0 in three and a half innings.

The Lady Highlanders recorded four hits before Sunbright recorded the first out in the bottom of the first inning. Mariah Hall hit a lead-off double, stole third, then got home on an Anna Sexton single, while Alex Kazee and Darsey Kazee each recorded hits in their first plate appearances as well. All would eventually score, as would Whitney Byrge and Montana Wright, each of which had base hits, and Shelby Jeffers, who was walked.

Hall scored again on an RBI single before the inning ended, followed by Sexton, who scored on an RBI double by Kazee before Sunbright finally recorded the third out of the inning.

Sunbright had managed a lead-off single in the top half of the inning, but Scott recorded three outs in quick succession.

After two quick outs in the top half of the second, Sunbright put runners on second and third, but couldn't bring them home.

In the bottom half of the inning inning, Tamara Dowden scored on a Wright RBI, and Scott led 10-0.

The Lady Highlanders scored three more runs in the bottom half of the third, after forcing Sunbright to strand two more runners. The game was called after the top of the fourth.
