CLINTON — The bats were working well for home-standing Clinton here Friday evening, as the Dragons jumped to a 4-1 lead in the first inning and eventually defeated Oneida's Lady Indians 12-2 in a game shortened to five innings by the 10-run rule.

Oneida jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, when Jenna Bridges walked and later scored, and had Kennedi Reed in scoring position.

But Clinton put an end to the inning quickly, and jumped to the 4-1 lead.

The Dragons scored another run in the bottom of the second, then added three more in the fourth after a scoreless third inning to build the lead to 8-1.

Tesla Huling scored on an RBI single by Reed in the top of the fifth, as Oneida cut the lead to 8-2. But Clinton added four more runs in the bottom half of the inning to seal it.

Soccer - CAK 7, Oneida 1: Perennial favorite CAK got district play started right on its home field Monday, defeating Oneida 7-1.

Oneida's goal came on a score by Cheston West, who was assisted by Nathaniel Furrer. For Furrer, it was his second assist in two games this season.
