Thomas C. Smith, 80, of Marshfield, Massachusetts, passed away February 28, 2014.

Born in Oneida, he was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence ìStarî and Thelma Smith; and sisters, Clara Brown and Alma Partain.

He graduated from Oneida High School; attended Tennessee Technological University and graduated from Georgia State University. He served in the United States Army for two years as a military police officer; worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company; was a former member of the Lions Club, and was a University of Tennessee sports fan.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Starnes) Smith; children: Greg (Mary Ann) Smith of Halifax, Leslie (Lawrence) Grimes of Marshfield, and Christopher (Heather) Smith of Newtown, Conn.; grandchildren: Nevin, Daniel, Bryan, Melinda, Rachel, Matthew, Riley and Taegan; siblings: Laurence Smith, Barbara Walls, William Smith, and Robert Smith; several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives.

Funeral service will be conducted March 15, at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139, Marshfield, Mass.
